Day 36—Sunday—7/19: Waterfowl Lakes: moose search, gorgeous reflections on lake, Bow Lake hike, crowfoot glacier overlook, bike riding Lake Louise campground bike riding along river.

Warning:  The beauty in the Canadian Rockies is so spectacular that we’re posting more pictures than normal J.

Sarah and Sam headed out pretty early to walk to Upper Waterfowl Lake to find a moose.  Nothing!   No luck.  But it was such a gorgeous morning with white puffy clouds and blue sky creating beautiful reflections on the lake, with glaciers, forests and jagged peaks visible for miles.  It was serene—just plain gorgeous.  They had a peaceful morning together as Andrea, Denise and Ryan enjoyed a pancake, eggs, and bacon breakfast in our beautiful, forested campsite.  When Sam and Sarah came back 2 hours later, they ate the leftovers while the others walked along the river.  Then, we threw the football and Frisbee and walked to a very large boulder and climbed it many times.  After rock climbing, we walked along the shore of the Lower Waterfowl Lake and the small river before driving south to Bow Lake.  This is another spectacular turquoise colored lake with towering cliffs and mountains and glaciers.  The hike along the lake’s edge was wonderful.  We packed our lunches and ate along the lakeshore admiring the beauty.  We drove to the Crowfoot Glacier overlook for more impressive vistas.  Then we arrived at the Lake Louise Campground.  Here, we cooked dinner outside and then rode our mountain bikes along the glacier-fed Bow river.  The bike path is really fun and scenic.  We looked for grizzly bears on the other side of the river but didn’t see any.
